King graces trooping of the colours at Dataran Pahlawan Negara PUTRAJAYA: His Majesty the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim graced the trooping of the colours ceremony at Dataran Pahlawan Negara yesterday. The ceremony, which began at 7.50am, was held amid light rain. ceremony were those of the Royal Malay Regiment, Royal Ranger Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force.
TVET Day event expected to draw 500,000 visitors PUTRAJAYA: The National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2026 celebrations officially commenced yesterday, underscoring TVET’s growing role as a catalyst for the development of highly skilled human capital and a key driver of Malaysia’s economic competitiveness. Held under the theme “TVET, the Top Career Choice”, the three-day event at Dataran Putrajaya is expected to attract more than 500,000 visitors and serve as a platform to showcase the vast opportunities available through skills-based education and training. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance minister, is scheduled to launch the celebration at 10am today. Running from 9am to 10pm until tomorrow, the event brings together more than 107 government agencies, educational institutions and industry players representing nine major sectors, namely aerospace, electronics and digital technology, agriculture, transport and automotive, advanced manufacturing, services, rail, maritime and energy. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore six key segments such as TVET institutions and industry engagement, seminars, a career carnival and infotainment programmes. National TVET Council member Mohamed Khairul Azman Abdul Azeez said extensive preparations had been undertaken to ensure visitors gain meaningful exposure to the opportunities offered through TVET. “Among the key attractions this year is the career carnival that offers nearly 3,000 job vacancies and on-the-spot interview opportunities for job seekers. He also highlighted the participation of 30 exhibitors from China, describing it as a reflection of growing international industry engagement and confidence in the development of Malaysia’s TVET ecosystem. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also National TVET Council chairman, said in a post on his Facebook page that he would be visiting the event. Ahmad Zahid has also been actively promoting the celebration through a series of countdown posts on social media to encourage greater public participation. In a statement issued after chairing the National TVET Council meeting yesterday, he said the council had reviewed various strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the national TVET ecosystem, particularly in sectors that serve as pillars of economic growth and national development. Under the Malaysia Madani framework, TVET has been elevated as a national priority, with the government committed to strengthening the sector through programmes that align with emerging technologies and the evolving needs of global industries and investors. – Bernama It also serves as a manifestation of the Armed Forces oath and pledge of undivided loyalty to the King and country. The ceremony is held three times (in the first, third and final years) during the five-year reign of each Malay Ruler appointed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
It also featured a combined performance by the Armed Forces central band under the baton of Lt-Kol Muhamad Nor Azizan Yahya, with renditions of patriotic songs. 10-year validity passport rollout date to be announced

KUALA Immigration Department will soon announce the implementation date for Malaysian passports with a 10-year validity period.
