Eve returns to Malaysia for two nights in August JAPANESE singer-songwriter Eve is set to return to Malaysia this August as part of his Zepp Tour 2026, marking his first live house tour in seven years. The acclaimed composer will perform at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Aug 8 and 9, following overwhelming demand after his sold-out Eve Asia Tour 2024 performance in Malaysia. Known for his emotionally charged storytelling, genre-blending sound and globally recognised anime theme songs, Eve has built a strong international following through hits that combine J-pop, J-rock and cinematic soundscapes. His tour has already seen all domestic shows across five Japanese cities sell out, with Kuala Lumpur and Taipei added as newly announced overseas stops. Unlike his previous Malaysian performance, Eve’s upcoming return will feature a live house format designed to create a more immersive and dynamic concert experience. Fans can expect customised audio and lighting effects, upgraded stage machinery, an expanded live band featuring a saxophonist and an entirely new setlist that blends fan favourites with lesser-known tracks. The two-night schedule in Kuala Lumpur is expected to accommodate stronger regional demand while offering audiences a more intimate yet high-energy performance setting. Eve shared since his last visit to Malaysia, he has released more music and evolved further as an artiste, adding the continued support of Malaysian fans has made his return possible. Tickets will be available beginning May 9 at 11am, with prices ranging from RM398 to RM568, while the Box Suite seated package is priced at RM4,600 for up to eight people. Eve’s continued rise reflects the expanding global influence of Japanese music, particularly among anime and contemporary pop culture audiences. With major theme songs tied to globally popular anime franchises such as Kaikai Kitan for the famous Jujutsu Kaisen and Fight Song for the 12th ending theme for the anime series Chainsaw Man , Eve has become one of Japan’s most distinctive modern music exports.

T HE currently screening film Libang Libu has been described as light-hearted entertainment that offers audiences relief amid challenging times. Beto Kusyairy, the film’s star, said audiences seem to enjoy its family-friendly comedy, friendships and social commentary and leave the cinema feeling noticeably more relaxed. “With the world facing all sorts of heavy issues such as wars, rising prices and more, Libang Libu could serve as a medium for people to release their stress. “Many came saying their minds felt heavy before the film, but left feeling more relieved, relaxed and at ease. That’s our goal, to leave people feeling good,” he told reporters after a special interview session recently. He and the production team were also deeply moved by the reception, especially during the Perak tour series, which felt like a festival with families attending in droves. “We were really surprised by the o Beto Kusyairy deeply moved by reception of comedy film Libang Libu

incredible turnout. On the road tour, especially in Perak, it felt like a festival. People came with their families, bringing parents who hadn’t been to the cinema in ages, even elderly folks in wheelchairs and with walking sticks,” he said. The actor said Libang Libu goes beyond simple comedy, blending social critiques that reflect everyday realities through characters based on real people. “The film reflects society. Characters such as Along, Man Filem and others are real people around us, with social critiques delivered casually, without preaching,” he explained. Beto said the film lets audiences decide for themselves without being pushed, while hoping to open minds so people are less quick to judge others. “We’re not competing or trying to outshine others. We just want Libang Libu to be a film that the audience can accept and enjoy,” he added. Libang Libu marks the directorial debut of Bobby Husaini, a familiar name in advertising for over 20 years. Starring Amerul Affendi and Nabila Huda, and filmed in Perak, the film tells the story of a local community through breezy comedy centred on family drama. – Bernama
