THE Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) remains committed to supporting the devel opment of national sports talent, including motorsports, in line with the goal of produc ing high-performance athletes capable of competing on the world stage, says Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari. However, Mohammed Taufiq said that a policy decision made last year stipulated that for 2026, applications for the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) will prioritise sports contested in major games. The Games include the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Asian and Para Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, as well as the SEA and Para Asean Games, based on the lists provided by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) covering 58 sports and the Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPC). “This decision was made after taking into account the major sporting events the national contingent will face this year and
rider Hakim Danish is a symbol of hope and inspiration for the younger generation of Malaysia. He proves that with discipline, courage, and the right support, our youth are capable of competing with the best rid ers in the world,” he said. Earlier, the statement noted that KBS, through the KWASN fund, had channeled a total of RM3 million to SIC to implement the 2025 High-Performance Motorsports Development Programme. The allocation covers three main develop ment programmes for young national rid ers: the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup for Hakim Danish (RM1.159 million), ESBK Moto3 Talent for Qabil Irfan (RM1.3 million), and the Asia Talent Cup for Sharf Muhriz and Adam Danial (RM540,000). KBS stated that the fund was aimed to cover tournament participation costs, team operations, training, and rider development needs throughout the 2025 season. – Bernama
next; namely the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland this August. “The Asian Games in Doha from September to October, the Para Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan in October, and the SEA Games in September 2027, which Malaysia will host,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur on Friday night. He stated that his ministry and the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will con tinue to discuss with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to examine the possibility of provid ing suitable support mechanisms to ensure the continuity of development for the coun try’s high-potential athletes, including those in motorsports. This is because Mohammed Taufiq under stands that the achievements of national athletes on the world stage, including in sports not contested in the aforementioned major games, still have a significant impact on the nation’s image. “The success and journey of national

fully opened the scoring in the 58th minute via Kastaneer, who tapped in from close range after receiving a short pass while unmarked. Kelantan finally recorded a shot on target in the 80th minute through captain Muhammad Nor Azam Abdul Azih, but his long-range strike missed the mark. Terengganu then sealed the victory by netting a second goal in injury time through a penalty kick converted by Shervoni Mabatshoev well after the 90th minute mark. Terengganu acting head coach, Tengku Hazman Raja Hassan said that overall he was satisfied with the victory even though the first half showed his team was a bit slow. “Overall, I am happy with the result. But if you look at the start, we were a bit slow, slow. I am a bit disappointed with the first half. “We saw at the beginning that Kelantan played with a ‘low block’ style and I saw that our players were stiff, not moving much and not changing positions much, so I think we were disjointed in the first half,” he said. – Bernama
TERENGGANU FC (pic) secured all three points after defeating Kelantan The Real Warriors FC 2-0 in their 2025/2026 Super League clash at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium on Friday night. The Turtles threatened early in the 13th minute through striker Gervane Jzandric Adonnis Kastaneer, but his attempt was suc cessfully parried away by goalkeeper Damyan Valeriy Damyanov. The visiting team then intensified their assault through a combination play where Panshanbe Ehsoni passed to captain Raianderson Da Costa Morais before receiv ing it back, though the opportunity was not converted. In the 31st minute, Kastaneer once again had a chance to score with an attempt from outside the penalty box, but his shot failed to hit the target.
