ASTRO has announced it is bringing viewers even more homegrown Tamil premieres including Manam , Raja Rani , Thural and more across all its platforms. In line with these new premieres, Vinmeen’s exclusive series slot has been extended from 30 minutes to a full hour, treating you with two back-to-back local favourites. You can enjoy these captivating local Tamil premieres on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) via TV, Astro GO, On Demand and Sooka, every Monday until Thursday. Beyond enhancing the viewer experience, this expansion also creates more opportunities for local talents and production teams to showcase compelling, high quality stories that truly resonate with Malaysians. Manam , adapted from local Malay series Layang Layang Perkahwinan, follows Sheena, a devoted wife who supports her husband Varun’s rise in the company. However, cracks begin to appear in their marriage when Varun’s behaviour shifts dramatically. His frequent late nights and excuses raise Sheena’s suspicions, eventually leading her to a painful truth: his infidelity. Despite pressure and consequences from her influential in-law family, Sheena finds the strength to stand up for herself. Directed by SD Puvanendran and produced by Seelan Manoheran, Manam features a local and international cast including Jayshree, Surrya Prakash, Subashini, Seelan Manoheran, Mathialagan, Ashwini Nambiar and more. Raja Rani follows Aadhi who faces emotional turmoil when past love Swetha returns seeking help and threatening his marriage to Kanmani. Torn between loyalty and compassion, Aadhi confronts love, betrayal and moral dilemmas in this gripping drama series. Directed by Gautham Thangavel and produced by Prakash Subramaniam, this family drama series stars debut and renowned local artistes including Sathisvaran, Devakanni and Chandnine Kaur. Raja Rani is set to premiere in March 2026. Thural , on the other hand, follows Lakshmi, a career-driven woman balancing work and caregiving responsibilities. Her plan to marry her son Arjun to Sandhya sparks family conflict, and tensions escalate when Sandhya’s pregnancy adds further complexity – unfolding a story of love, sacrifice and hidden family dynamics. Directed by C. Kumaresan, Thural features local talents including Preetha Prasad, Thevaguru and Pashini Sivakumar. Thural will premiere in May 2026.

Cherpen collabs with Chubb-E on heartbreak anthem MALAYSIAN band Cherpen continues to strengthen its position in the local music scene with the release of its latest single Patah Hati , a collaboration with rapper Chubb-E.

In a statement issued by its recording label Seventeen Eleven Music, the group’s vocalist Nemo said the reggae-infused track reflects the group’s artistic maturity. The song was co-composed by Nemo and fellow band members Kimie and Syahir – with the lyrics penned by Nemo, Kimie and Chubb-E. “We came up with the idea of collaborating (with Chubb-E) during the initial stages of working on Patah Hati . At first, we casually added a rap section, then we thought of bringing in a rapper. We eventually connected with Chubb-E and immediately felt the chemistry,” said Nemo. He added that the song centres on the theme of heartbreak, a reality many can relate to. “The most important message of this song is to appreciate the person who loves you sincerely,”he said, adding that the reggae sound marks a departure from Cherpen’s
