Meanwhile, industry veterans Yap and Thoi presented two distinct collection that could not be anymore different than each other, but brought a certain je ne sais quoi that gave MBFWKL 2025 the elegance and luxury, with the right amount of whimsy (Coterie by Celest Thoi) that it needs. Dickson Lim execution in layering and textural contrast, proves his mastery in delivering fluidity while keeping it grounded in heritage but bold in expression. An international affair in its own right, the fashion event introduced Indonesian menswear designer Temma Prasetio who presented his signature aesthetic: precise tailoring, artistic storytelling and a deep appreciation for cultural identity. Also making its debut is Seibu that displayed a curated selection of fashion labels from Japan and Malaysia. The cherry on the cake, its showcase bridged the gap between lifestyle and high fashion that is normally accessible only to the elite. From cultural storytelling by emerging talent Seth&Luna Malaya to unique visions by Khoon Hooi and Dickson Mah, MBFWKL 2025 was an affair of timeless allure in which luxury and sustainability are intertwined in a passionate tango.

T HE mid-year defile de mode has only begun, and this year Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) 2025 leads the runway as it returns for the seventh time, redefining luxury and upholding sustainability and craftsmanship. Over 3,000 members of the beau monde gathered at The Exchange TRX as the three-day event spotlighted artistry and trailblazing Southeast Asian fashion designers. Themed “The Icon”, the curated showcase was a celebration of fashion and automotive excellence, and the limbo in which the two thrive. And, in the centre of it all is Mercedes-Benz’s all-new electric G-Class, the epitome of class, elegance and boldness. And, that is exactly what the designers brought to the runway as their collections ooze class and the sheer audacity of standing out in all their pride and beauty. This year saw a comeback from five leading designers (Ellie Lim, Weihaoyong, Justin Yap, Khoon Hooi and Celest Thoi), joined by 11 other who put on a show for the first time in MBFWKL 2025.
