The Natural History Museum of Yeahnahnesia Date: Aug 1–Oct 4 Time: 12pm–7pm (Friday–Sunday) Venue: Cultprint, George Town, Penang Part of the George Town Festival, this immersive solo exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist duo Yok & Sheryo transforms Cultprint into the fictional island nation of Yeahnahnesia. Through paintings, sculptures, installations and environmental design, visitors are invited to explore mythical artefacts, rare specimens and imaginative traditions that blur the line between fantasy and reality. The exhibition also extends beyond the gallery with public programmes, a city-wide interactive trail and a limited-time pop-up experience.

An Evening with Masood Boomgaard & Self-Help Singh Date: Aug 14 Time: 8pm Venue: DeStage @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya Entry fee: From RM168 International comedian Masood Boomgaard brings his Asia tour to Malaysia with a one-night-only performance featuring his viral alter ego Self-Help Singh. Known for blending stand-up comedy with parody and motivational satire, Boomgaard delivers sharp observations on workplace culture, relationships and modern life. The interactive show combines audience participation with storytelling, making every performance slightly different from the last.

Echoes in Between: Penang as Living Archive Date: Until Aug 11 Time: Varies by day Venue: ChinaHouse, George Town, Penang Held as part of the George Town Festival, Echoes in Between: Penang as Living Archive explores the island’s living heritage through the eyes of artists, architects, photographers, filmmakers and community practitioners. Rather than focusing solely on monuments, the exhibition examines everyday stories, memories and cultural practices that continue to shape Penang today. Visitors can expect contemporary artworks and installations that invite them to see heritage as something constantly evolving through the people who live it. Once Upon A Malaysian Dream Date: Aug 13–16 Time: 8pm (Aug 13–14), 3pm & 8pm (Aug 15–16) Venue: Dewan Sivik MBPJ, Petaling Jaya Entry fee: RM30–RM120 Written, directed and produced by Kee Thuan Chye, Once Upon A Malaysian Dream explores the ideals of Merdeka through a distinctly Malaysian lens. Blending drama, music, humour and historical reflection, the production examines questions of unity, identity and the nation’s evolving aspirations. Featuring a cast of 12 portraying around 200 characters, the play promises an entertaining yet thought-provoking theatrical experience.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Date: Aug 2 Time: 11am & 3pm Venue: DeStage @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya Entry fee: From RM60 EM Drama presents a contemporary teen adaptation of William Shakespeare’s beloved comedy as part of PJ Comedy Fest 2026. Performed by a cast of young Malaysian actors and accompanied by live music from Bentley Music Academy, the production reimagines the classic tale through a youthful local perspective. Expect magical mishaps, mistaken identities and plenty of laughter as four young lovers navigate an enchanted forest filled with mischievous fairies. Entry fee: Ticket prices to be announced Wicked Music People joins forces with Kenny Shim Dance Collective and award-winning choir Ottophony for a multidisciplinary production that combines Baroque music, contemporary dance, theatre and digital scenography. The Bouquet and the Wreath (Rebirth) Date: Until Oct 11 Time: Gallery opening hours Venue: Ilham Gallery, Kuala Lumpur Internationally acclaimed Thai artist Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook presents her first solo exhibition in Malaysia with The Bouquet and the Wreath (Rebirth) . Spanning more than four decades of artistic practice, the exhibition brings together video works, sculptural installations and new commissions alongside rarely seen early pieces. Through recurring motifs such as flowers, beds and text, the exhibition explores themes of mortality, memory, curiosity and what it means to be human.

Taiwan’s Formosa Indigenous Song & Dance Troupe makes its Malaysian premiere with When Spirits Meet , a production celebrating the traditions of Taiwan’s indigenous communities. Through ancient chants, vibrant songs and powerful dance performances, audiences are introduced to the rituals and cultural heritage of the Pinuyumayan and Pangcah peoples. Combining live music, storytelling and ceremonial performances, the production offers a rare opportunity to experience centuries-old traditions on stage.
