S. SIVASANGARI of Malaysia finished runner-up at the PSA Squash Tour Finals 2025/26 in Paris after a 3 1 defeat to world No. 1 Hania El Hammamy in the women’s final. The world No. 5 Malaysian started strongly, bouncing back after losing the first game 6–11 to edge a tight second game 11–10. However, Hania regained control and closed out the match by taking the next two games 11–8, 11–8. After the match, Sivasangari reflected on the performance, saying she was proud of her run despite falling short in the final. “It was a tough match, and I tried to stay aggressive throughout. I’ll take a lot of positives from this week and keep pushing to improve.” Hania, meanwhile, credited her ability to reset after dropping the second game. “She pushed me really hard, especially in that second game. I’m happy I stayed composed in the key moments and finished strongly.” Despite the loss, Sivasangari’s run was a major milestone. She produced the tournament’s standout upset in the semifinals, defeating world No. 2 and top seed Amina Orfi in a close four-game battle (8–11, 11–10, 11–8, 11–10) lasting 74 minutes. Her runner-up finish marks Malaysia’s best result at the season-ending event since squash legend Nicol David reached the final in 2012. Earlier in 2026, Sivasangari also won the Grasshopper Cup in Zurich, reinforcing her strong form this season. – Bernama/Agencies
