RM13.4 million worth of contraband, e-waste seized

Teen girl seriously injured in robbery KOTA BHARU: A 15-year-old girl sustained serious injuries in a suspected robbery in Kampung Mesira, Palekbang, Tumpat. Tumpat police chief ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie said the girl’s father, who is in his 50s, lodged a report after members of the public found her in a bush near an irrigation canal on Thursday. “The teenager left home for a walk at about 7am but did not return, prompting her family to begin searching for her at around 10am before they were informed of her discovery. “When the complainant arrived at the location, he found her semi conscious and suffering from serious injuries to the face, head and body. “She was taken to Tumpat Hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to Raja Permaisuri Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu for further treatment,” he said in a statement. Preliminary investigations found that the woman had been operating timber processing activities at the mill, which was rented within the industrial area. The case is being investigated under Section 84 of the National Forestry Act 1984. “All seized logs have been handed over to the Gua Musang Forestry Department for further action,” Ahmad Radzi said.

The seizure was estimated to be worth RM290,000, including duties and taxes. The driver, a man in his 40s, was detained to assist in investigations. Roslan said the cases were being investigated under various provisions of the Customs Act 1967. Upon conviction, offenders face fines and imprisonment.
