La dolce vita o Malaysian designer Khoon Hooi speaks to media, industry partners about fashion, ambition as well as his spring/summer collection Dolce Estate

While Dolce Estate looks like an effortless summer, the collection maintains Khoon Hooi’s signature architectural spine masterfully hidden beneath fluid drape. “Craftsmanship. The salesperson Nicole then brought over a piece to explain the mechanism of a Khoon Hooi gown. “Inside is all the boning. Then here, you see a strap that holds onto your waist. On the back is the metal zip with our signature bobbin ribbon.” Truly embodying the Italians’ zest for life, la dolce vita is woven into the colours of the collection – pomodoro red, aquamarine, lilac, butter-yellow and classic black and white that evoke the sensational summer allure from the Italian Riviera to Lake Como. Now, all we need is a Vespa and a head scarf to go on a ride on the Mediterranean coast.

A T the top floor of Khoon Hooi’s APW Bangsar KL showroom, media and industry partners gathered on an intimate, rainy afternoon for a conversation with the creative genuis behind an almost two-decade-old fashion house. A million dreams The session opened with Khoon Hooi professing his love for fashion. “Fashion has always been my passion,” he declared. After graduating high school, the fabric maestro moved to KL and the rest is history. From Katy Perry wearing one of his pieces to launching a collection twice a year in Paris Fashion Week, Khoon Hooi has making strides all over the world. His Spring/Summer ’26 collection, Dolce Estate: A Sweet Summer, which added a layer of summer romance to the soiree, is just the testament to his years of ambition, resilience and creative genius.
