Katy Perry among stars confirmed for Los Angeles opening ceremony FIFA has confirmed some of the stars who will perform at the World Cup opening ceremonies next month, reported PA Media/dpa. With the tournament held across three countries, Canada, Mexico and the US will each host a ceremony ahead of their opening game. The tournament starts with Mexico v South Africa on June 11, with Canada facing Bosnia and US starting their campaign against Paraguay the following day. Katy Perry, Future and Tyla will be among the headliners in Los Angeles, with Alanis Morissette and Michael Buble performing in Toronto earlier on June 12. Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda and Danny Ocean will all perform during the Mexico City ceremony. “The Fifa World Cup is a moment the world shares and that begins with how we open it. Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next day with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament. It is a powerful way to begin a truly global celebration,”said Fifa president Gianni Infantino. – Bernama

Pop star Shakira posts taster of World Cup song
C OLOMBIAN singer Shakira recently offered a taste of the official song for the 2026 football World Cup in a short Instagram video, o Short Instagram video shows artiste singing at Brazil’s Maracana stadium
World football’s governing body Fifa also shared the singer’s Instagram post. Shakira previously contributed the official World Cup song for the 2010 tournament in South Africa with Waka Waka . The men’s World Cup will be held in June and July in the US, Canada and Mexico. Recently, the pop star gave a free concert at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro in front of an estimated 2 million visitors. – Bernama

At the start of the song Dai Dai , Shakira walks across the pitch at the iconic Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro with the official World Cup ball Trionda tucked under her arm. She then sings part of the song alongside dancers. At the end, the camera pulls out of the stadium and the words “We are ready” can be seen on the roof. The full song by Shakira and Nigerian musician Burna Boy was released last week.

The one hour programme takes audiences on a musical journey from Scotland to Kuala Lumpur, featuring works linked to transport and adventure alongside excerpts from Star Wars, Aladdin, Harry Potter and Moana .

Untitled is a large-scale group exhibition featuring more than 120 artists and over 300 artworks across disciplines. Presented in collaboration with GMBB and supported by Yayasan Hasanah, the exhibition displays works without artist names or titles, encouraging visitors to respond directly to the art while supporting artists through handwritten RM2 donation “gift letters” and an interactive Bingo system.
