CRICKET AUSTRALIA (CA) said on Thursday it is considering alterna tives to its privatisation plan for the Big Bash League (BBL) after failing to achieve consensus with state mem bers. CA had set a mid-April deadline for the nation’s six member states to indicate their support to sell 49% stakes in most BBL teams and 100% of one team each in Victoria and New South Wales. New South Wales rejected CA’s proposal while Queensland deferred its decision, saying it needed more information. “Given CA does not currently have full alignment on the proposed next
CA had hoped to raise up to A$600 million (RM1.7 billion) to future-proof the sport, boost its finances and improve Australia’s competitiveness in T20 cricket. CA reported a net deficit of A$11.3 million (RM32m) for the 2024/25 financial year despite a hike in reve nue from hosting the lucrative Border-Gavaskar series against pow erhouse India. think as an overall unit, we have not been able to do what exactly Mumbai Indians stands for,” he said. Mumbai, who have used 22 players this season, more than any other side, just needed a slice of luck to turn things around, Pandya added. “It’s been that kind of season. When you get a couple of chances, you grab them, that’s when luck and momentum changes,” he said. “If you don’t, it kind of hurts you, but it’s still fine, all the boys tried really well.” Mumbai next face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. Ryan Rickelton’s maiden IPL century came in vain as the South African Rickelton hit an unbeaten 123 off 55 balls to power five-time champions Mumbai. The left-handed Rickelton, a wicketkeeper-batter chosen in place of fellow South African Quinton de Kock, struck the fastest ton by a Mumbai batter, reaching three figures in 44 balls. But Hyderabad relied on their South African star Heinrich Klaasen, who hit an unbeaten 65 to steer the team home
the Indian Premier League on Wednesday but captain Hardik Pandya refused to single them out for blame and said the whole team were accountable. Five-times champions Mumbai are enduring a wretched season and are ninth in the 10-team standings with just two wins from eight matches. Their much-vaunted bowling unit, spear headed by India pace man Jasprit Bumrah, has struggled mightily with conditions in the IPL heavily favouring batsmen. Mumbai posted 243-5
