F OR the dreamers and doers, Braunx, an artiste-first music label by BWHPK, is set to rewrite history in the Malaysian Tamil music industry. It is dedicated to discovering and developing grassroots talents while empowering them to take charge of their own narrative. The local music industry is a niche career field, and many artistes have suffered the commodification of their art, which is, more often than not, personal. As such, Braunx positions itself as a trailblazer in a radical, cultural movement that provides artistes with education to own their voice, art and place within the industry. “Braunx represents a new era for voices that refuse to be silenced,” said Mathubalan, the founder of Braunx. Vowing to champion artistes and bring them to the mainstream, Braunx puts them first, providing structure and flexibility to create. The choice of name is not just phonetic – it is also symbolic. Just as the Bronx (New York City) birthed a global movement through hip-hop and R&B, led by a marginalised community, Braunx aims to catalyse a similar revolution in Malaysia. It takes an oath to foster a culture in which artistry and strategy can co-exist, empowering musicians to cultivate a sustainable career simply from doing what they love most – music. Braunx’s signed artistes, song launch Unveiling its first roster of artistes, Braunx is wasting no time in executing its manifesto of a better tomorrow for Malaysian artistes.

Sonic revolution o Music label Braunx launches with bold manifesto
The label is expected to conduct seminars as industry leaders (producers, artistes and music video producers) will educate young musicians on industry insights and pre, mid and post music production. These seminars will cover topics such as royalties, copyright, intellectual property, publishing and other areas overlooked by emerging artistes. “These initiatives aim to equip the next generation of creators with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the industry confidently. We believe that an educated artiste is a powerful artiste,” concluded Mathubalan.
Unplugged by Braunx Already materialising its pledge, the label collaborates with Maya Bazaar to introduce Unplugged by Braunx. Designed to strip away the heavy production of the studio, it offers a raw and intimate platform where emerging talents perform Tamil cover songs. Think NPR Music Tiny

Its current line-up of artistes includes Arvind Raj, Amos Paul, Music Kitchen (Prem D and Sid), Vidhya Mohan and Harswin Ganesh. To commemorate its launch, which took place recently, guests were treated to two new songs by the label’s artistes.
Giving back Beyond just a music label, Braunx positions itself as a cultural custodian, as it takes an oath to give back to the creative community via a series of cultural educational initiatives.
Mathubalan says Braunx is here to make sure that every Malaysian Tamil artiste who walks through the label’s doors understands every room they enter, every deal on the table and every right they own.

Didie Shazry revisits classic Yang Berlalu Tak Berulang
SABAH-BORN singer Didie Shazry has re-recorded the classic song Yang Berlalu Tak Berulang into a new version, produced by Luncai Emas as the rights holder. The remake received approval from original composer Neves Pretty Ugly, with a new arrangement tailored to Didie’s vocal identity while retaining the song’s core elements. “This song was originally performed by the late Lotter, with lyrics written by the late Loloq. They are two figures in the arts who now remain only in memory. Their passing left a space that is difficult to fill, especially as every line and melody in this song is deeply personal. I appreciate how Didie has brought back the emotions we once recorded. Through this remake, that feeling
up with songs such as this and my family are strong supporters of such works. This project also connects me with two figures I have admired since childhood, composer Neves and lyricist the late Loloq. I hope this remake will attract a new generation while continuing to resonate with longtime listeners,” said Didie. Previously, Didie performed the contemporary joget track Joget Jiwa Lara in the compilation album Joget Made In Malaysia by Luncai Emas , alongside Amir Jahari, Kmy Kmo and Luca Sickta, Jaclyn Chia and Puteri Khareeza. The music video was filmed in Bali by Alfi Aditya and premiered on Luncai Emas’s YouTube channel last Friday and will also be available on digital streaming platforms.
