RAYA MALL DECOR
MyTownKL’s kaleidoscope of Raya colours Over at MyTown Shopping Centre, Raya takes on a dazzling new perspective. Inspired by the shifting patterns of a kaleidoscope, the decor bursts into a mosaic of bold colours and geometric designs that reflect the joyful chaos of festive preparations. The installation plays with light, reflections and layered shapes to create the feeling of stepping inside a giant kaleidoscope. Vibrant panels, mirrored surfaces and playful patterns mimic the small yet meaningful gestures that define the season, from weaving ketupat to decorating homes for visiting relatives. The effect is immersive and visually striking. As visitors move through the
space, colours shift and patterns evolve, making every angle feel different from the last. It is Raya through a prism, where tradition meets modern design in a vibrant swirl of festive energy.
Suria KLCC blooms into a bougainvillea garden At Suria KLCC, Hari Raya arrives wrapped in florals and heritage artistry. The Centre Court and Esplanade transform into a dreamy bougainvillea garden, anchored by traditional Malay wakaf pavilions that instantly transport visitors into a serene kampung -inspired setting. What truly steals the spotlight is a sweeping batik installation created in
collaboration with Malaysian designer Sofia Iman. A remarkable 1,710m of hand stamped batik drapes across the space, cascading from the wakaf structures to grand overhead hoists and decorative installations around the Esplanade. The result feels almost theatrical. The vibrant batik fabric moves gently with the airflow, creating a living tapestry of colour and tradition.
Hael blends modern style with classic baju Melayu A self-professed kampung boy at heart, singer-songwriter Hael returns to Negeri Sembilan every Syawal to reconnect with relatives over festive-favourite dishes such as rendang Minang and days of house-hopping. With everyone dressing up for open houses, Hael often finds himself helping family members curate their Raya wardrobe. Known for blending classic baju Melayu with modern styling, he enjoys experimenting with colours and accessories while keeping traditional touches intact. “I’ve always liked styling outfits, whether it’s for myself or my family. On Shopee Live, I was able to bring that to a wider audience by showing how I pair trendy baju Melayu tops from Shopee’s 50% Raya Fashion Trends with a traditional sampin songket , while sharing where viewers can find the pieces,” he said. archways, elegant corridors and intricate design details that reflect the artistry of heritage homes. Visitors can wander through the space as if stepping into a refined Raya residence, complete with thoughtfully styled corners perfect for festive snapshots. A cosy reading nook adds a quiet charm to the setting, while landscaped decorative elements soften the mansion’s stately structure. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, evoking the comfort of returning to a beautifully kept family home during the festive season. The Gardens Mall’s elegant Raya mansion This Ramadan, The Gardens Mall transformed its interior into a grand Malaysian-inspired mansion that feels stately and welcoming. The installation draws inspiration from traditional architecture, with sweeping
Mid Valley Megamall’s woven Raya wonderland At Mid Valley Megamall, this year’s Hari Raya decor celebrates the intricate beauty of anyaman , the traditional Malay weaving craft. The Centre Court transforms into a striking artisan-inspired installation where towering woven structures and suspended panels create an immersive visual display. The decor draws inspiration from the delicate patterns often seen in ketupat casings and woven mats, but here the craft is reimagined on a grand scale. Interlocking strips form geometric shapes that stretch upwards and across the space, turning the mall into a modern
style is about versatile outfits that work beyond the festive season. Between open house visits and unwinding at home to nostalgic Raya playlists and family-favourite P. Ramlee films such as Ali Baba Bujang Lapok , comfort and practicality remain key. During a recent Shopee Live session, Mimi walked viewers through her Raya lookbook, sharing how simple pieces from Shopee can be styled into polished outfits. “I prefer looks that are versatile and stylish, especially during long days of house visits. Through Shopee Live, I had the chance to showcase my own #GetReadyWithShopee Fashion Hacks on pairing different fabrics, colours and accessories to elevate my outfits. It’s fun because viewers can see the looks come together in real time and discover new fashion products they can wear beyond Raya,” she shared. interpretation of a traditional weaving studio. Suspended installations appear to float above visitors, casting layered shadows and textures across the floor. The woven patterns shift as light moves through them, creating a dynamic visual effect that changes throughout the day. Beyond its striking appearance, the installation symbolises the strength found in connection. Just like anyaman weaving where individual strands come together to form something stronger, the decor reflects the spirit of Raya – unity, togetherness and the ties that bind families and communities.
Sungei Wang Plaza’s nostalgic kampung scene Here, nostalgia takes centre stage with a charming kampung -inspired installation that blends heritage with the rhythm of city life. The Centre Court and main entrance welcome visitors with a striking wooden house facade decorated with batik motifs and festive details. Behind it, subtle hints of the Kuala
Lumpur skyline peek through, creating a thoughtful contrast between old-world village charm and urban movement. Above the space, flowing batik fabrics form a colourful canopy that instantly softens the environment. The decor also features weaving-inspired elements and a traditional batik loom, quietly paying tribute to Malaysia’s rich textile traditions.
