COMMITTED TO PHILANTHROPY ... Universiti Malaya on Feb 14 organised ‘A Celebration of Legacy, Knowledge and Partnership’ at the Faculty of Medicine, recognising Top Glove Corporation Bhd founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai’s enduring philanthropic commitment to education, healthcare and service to society. The programme marked key milestones: the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to establish the Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai Scholarship for Medicine and Wellness, and the commemoration of the first anniversary of the Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai Medical Museum. The occasion was highlighted by the presentation of the Bahasa Malaysia translation of Lim’s biography. The MoA signing was followed by a mock cheque presentation of RM1 million to the Faculty of Medicine. EXPANSION INTO JAPAN ... Pentas Flora, Malaysia’s leading re-refined base oil (RRBO) producer and scheduled waste management specialist, recently announced its expansion into the Japanese market. The expansion was highlighted by the RRBO New Product Presentation hosted by Moty’s Tribo Japan Co Ltd, a premier Japanese lubricant and performance oil specialist. The event marked the formal introduction of Pentas Flora’s RRBO technology to Japanese industry leaders. WORKS OF ART ... Malayan Banking Bhd recently launched the Maybank Art Collection Exhibition (MACE): Held in Time, Built on Trust, a landmark exhibition that brought together 90 artworks which were long held within the Maybank Group, and, for the first time, open for public viewing. Picture shows Liu Cheng Hua, MACE curator and head of fine arts at the Malaysian Institute of Arts (in black and dark maroon batik shirt), presenting an artwork entitled Perempuan Pasar (Pisang) by artist Ismail Mat Hussin to guests at Balai Seni Maybank. Seen alongside him are Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, chairman of Maybank and Maybank Foundation (in dark blue and white batik shirt), Datuk Shahril Azuar Jimin, group chief sustainability cfficer Maybank (in red batik shirt) and Mohd Fairuz Selamat, deputy director, policy planning and research, National Department for Culture and Arts (in cream baju Melayu teluk belanga with songkok ). The exhibition runs until April 17. Admission is free.
SAVINGS AND PROTECTION ... Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Bhd on Feb 13 launched Sun Save Future, a guaranteed-acceptance savings and protection plan designed to give policyholders earlier access to their savings without compromising long-term financial goals. The plan offers guaranteed yearly cash payouts of up to 50% of annual premiums, beginning from the end of the second policy year, providing early liquidity to help the sandwich generation manage current financial needs while continuing to build future wealth. CREDIT INSIGHTS ... Credit Bureau Malaysia (CBM), a registered credit reporting agency under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, has formed a strategic partnership with Grab Malaysia to launch the first Malaysian Partner App on Grab’s platform, providing Malaysians with trusted credit insights. SHIP-BLESSING CEREMONY ... Nestle Malaysia and MTT Shipping (MTTS) recently held a ship blessing ceremony for MTTS’s container vessel, MTT Bintangor , at Westports, Pulau Indah, Port Klang. In the centre is the vessel’s Godmother, Montserrat Aranols (spouse of Juan Aranols), together with Nestle Malaysia CEO Juan Aranols (left) and MTTS group executive chairman Datuk Seri Kenny Ong (right), joined by the leadership teams of Nestle Malaysia and MTTS. MTT Bintangor plays an important role in supporting the efficient movement of Nestle goods across key domestic and Asean trade routes.
