Cape EMS unveils strategic transformation roadmap

Yayasan Peneraju offers up to RM850 rebate on MIA membership fee KUALA LUMPUR: Steadfast in its vision of driving Bumiputera competitiveness on the global stage, Yayasan Peneraju, an agency under the Economy Ministry, marks its 14th anniversary with a special campaign for its professional talents and alumni. In conjunction with the milestone, Yayasan Peneraju is introducing a Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) membership fee rebate to support its accounting talents with their annual membership fees. The rebate is available to eligible alumni with an outstanding repayment balance with Yayasan Peneraju. Successful applicants will receive up to RM850, which will be deducted from their outstanding balance, for the 2026 membership year. Yayasan Peneraju CEO Ibrahim Sani said MIA is the statutory body established under the Accountants Act 1967 to regulate and develop the accountancy profession in Malaysia. “MIA also confers the Chartered Accountant (Malaysia) designation, a recognised professional milestone for accountants. “Through this year’s fee rebate, we encourage YP talents and alumni to pursue CA (Malaysia) certification and strengthen their professional standing. “This initiative is designed to remove a practical barrier at a critical stage in an accountant’s journey, so our bumiputera accounting talents can take the next step with confidence and remain highly valued by employers. At the same time, the initiative reinforces responsible repayment behaviour, allowing us to recycle funds into new financing packages and extend opportunities to the next wave of bumiputera talents,” he said in a statement. To qualify, applicants must meet two sets of criteria. First, applicants must fulfil MIA’s eligibility requirements for the CA (Malaysia) designation. Second, applicants must meet Yayasan Peneraju’s rebate criteria by meeting the minimum repayment requirement, either a minimum 30% repayment or an initial payment of RM2,000. The rebate is limited to one application per applicant in 2026. Since its inception, Yayasan Peneraju has empowered over 90,000 Bumiputera individuals in high-impact fields, including technology and professional development. In 2025 alone, Yayasan Peneraju has processed over 19,000 applications across its technology and professional programmes.

KUALA LUMPUR: Cape EMS Bhd unveiled its strategic transformation roadmap, dubbed CEB 2.0, aimed at repositioning the group from a traditional electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider into a high-value technology and infrastructure partner. The strategic pivot is designed to build long term earnings resilience and restore market confidence by moving beyond conventional “box-build” assembly into engineering-led, infrastructure-linked, and solution-based offerings. Managing director and group CEO Christina Tee Kim Chin said the shift represents a fundamental upgrade in the group’s business model. “Cape 1.0 was about scale. CEB 2.0 is about value. We are transitioning from hardware centric manufacturing towards engineering integration, intelligent manufacturing networks, and clean-energy infrastructure,” she said in a statement. The transformation is anchored in four key business pillars: electronic manufacturing services (EMS), battery energy storage systems (BESS), wireless IoT, and intelligent manufacturing network (IMN). Central to this strategy is the IMN, which is driven by the group’s US-based subsidiary iConn Inc. The division operates a virtual plant model that facilitates distributed, AI-optimised production across multiple geographies. This approach allows Cape EMS to mitigate tariff exposure, adapt to geopolitical shifts, and support multinational customers pursuing China+1 supply-chain diversification strategies. Concurrently, the group is expanding into the BESS and renewable energy infrastructure space through its subsidiary Cape Renewables, in partnership with Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co Ltd. The initiative involves localising BESS assembly and lifecycle support in Johor, aligning with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). This positions Cape EMS to serve the rising demand from data centres and industrial operators seeking energy reliability. The group views its return to profitability in the first quarter of FY26 as a baseline for sustainable performance. “We are focused on sustainable margin improvement, prudent capital deployment, and transparent engagement with investors. We are not chasing growth for growth’s sake – we are pursuing quality growth,” Tee emphasised.
