Feeling like imposter
with artiste presales beginning today. Support varies by city and includes Sex Week, Gustaf, La Zorra Zapata, Haley Heynderickx, Maria Somerville, Tarta Relena, Gwenifer Raymond and more. Following the indie-rock anthem Where’s My Phone? , I’ll Change for You is nostalgic and mid-tempo as Mitski’s gorgeous vocal range is backed by a rich accompaniment of a string section, drums and percussion, pianos, guitar, flute and vibraphone. With desperation, she sings: “Cause I’ll do anything for you to love me again...” Nothing’s About to Happen to Me finds Mitski immersing herself in a rich narrative whose main character is a reclusive woman in an unkempt house. Outside of her home, she is a deviant and inside of her home, she is free. Directed by Lexie Alley and edited by Rena Johnson, the I’ll Change for You video builds upon this world, zeroing in on the chaotic, untidy Tansy House universe presented in the album’s photos by Alley. Printed frame by frame onto film with hand-drawn marks and subtle unsettling distortions, the footage feels like a roll of film that could be found in the Tansy House: fragile, dilapidated and probably buried under a pile of books. Mitski wrote all of the songs and performed all of the vocals on Nothing’s About to Happen to Me . Produced and engineered by Patrick Hyland and mastered by Bob Weston, the album continues the musical through line established with 2023’s The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We , and features live instrumentation by The Land touring band and ensemble arrangements.
SINGAPOREAN singer-songwriter Rhyu (Raine Hahn Yu) begins the new year with a new release, unveiling her latest single Go Away Green, a sombre track about imposter syndrome. Go Away Green refers to the paint colour of the same name that is used in theme parks to camouflage buildings and infrastructure in the background to divert attention away from them and allow parkgoers to focus on the colourful rides. In this vivid R&B track, Rhyu likens her feelings of going through imposter syndrome to feeling the urge to be painted in the Go Away Green colour, allowing her to turn invisible and blend into the background to avoid being perceived by others. Rhyu has been writing music about the bits and bobs in her life ever since she was four. Rhyu’s songs are pieces of memories and emotions brought to life and she hopes they will bring to listeners the same comfort they bring to her. Rhyu is one of the most exciting acts to emerge from Singapore in recent years, releasing her first single in 2022, and her most popular single It’s Fine has already surpassed 3.3 million streams on Spotify, where she has over 159,000 monthly listeners.

and the quiet moments of everyday life – delivered through a lens that is equally nostalgic and hyper-current. Hnata’s music transcends borders, with collaborations reaching from South Korea to North America, showcasing his ability to connect with fellow independent artistes around the world. His work feels right at home in the streaming era, where self-made bedroom pop stars are defining a new wave of global sound. As he prepares to release more music, backed by a growing team and a sharpened artistic vision, Hnata is poised to become Indonesia’s next breakout artiste leading a new generation of “chronically online” creators, inspired by acts such as Porter Robinson, Keshi and The 1975.

Hnata (pronounced “Hinata”) is a genre-defying multi-hyphenate whose sound fuses alt-pop, R&B and indie-rock sensibilities with a distinctly digital-age edge. A former member of the rising indie-rock trio Pryvt, Hnata now carves out his own lane – blending emotionally candid storytelling with polished, genre-fluid production. Since his debut in 2019 with the breakout single Slowtime, Hnata has cultivated a devoted online following through his emotionally raw yet infectiously melodic songs. His lyrics tap into the universal themes of youth – heartbreak, fleeting relationships
