Maxis first M’sian telco to migrate mission-critical workloads to AWS Malaysia Region PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd has migrated its mission-critical workloads from Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Singapore Region to AWS Malaysia Region, becoming the first Malaysian telecom munications provider to achieve this milestone. This includes 100% of its digital workloads, such as the Maxis and Hotlink apps that serve millions of customers. By hosting workloads locally, Maxis said it has reduced latency, resulting in faster response times and a smoother user experience. This move also drives operational efficiency and a more cost effective operating model by eliminating cross-region data traffic, enabling the company to focus on value creation. Maxis said it had leveraged its internal cloud engineering team to lead this transition. Chief information officer Ng May Ching said, “By bringing our mission critical workloads home, we are securing our data within Malaysia’s borders while improving efficiency to better serve our customers. This ensures our infra structure is resilient and future-ready to support the nation’s digital agenda.” Chief enterprise business officer, Prateek Pashine said that navigating local cloud migration for their own operations reinforces their ability to help Malaysian businesses achieve the same outcome. He added they are well-positioned to help customers address data sovereignty requirements while delivering the fast, reliable, and secure connectivity they need for responsive performance. “Telecommunications networks are the unseen infrastructure that keeps Malaysia’s digital economy running — powering millions of critical services every day,” said AWS Malaysia country manager, Hussein Mohd Ali. By building on the AWS Malaysia Region, he added, Maxis’ successful migration demonstrates what is achievable, and positions them to guide other Malaysian enterprises through their own cloud transformations.
