KOREA N -I NS PIRED quick service restaurant NakNak has obtained official halal certification for its central kitchen, signalling a broader shift towards inclusivity as NakNak continues to grow its footprint in Malaysia’s competitive food scene. The certification was awarded in October 2025 following a comprehensive audit of NakNak’s central kitchen, which oversees the preparation of key components such as sauces, patties and seasonings used across all outlets. The audit covered ingredient sourcing, preparation processes and operational practices, with all raw materials verified to be sourced from halal -certified suppliers. For many customers, halal certification offers reassurance beyond dietary requirements. It reflects transparency in sourcing and preparation, particularly important in a dining landscape
where consumers are increasingly conscious about what goes into their food. The certification coincides with the opening of two new outlets, located at Petronas NKVE Damansara Bound and 1 Utama Shopping Centre. These additions place NakNak firmly within high traffic locations, catering to commuters, shoppers and families looking for a casual, accessible meal. At its core, NakNak’s appeal lies in its approachable take on Korean-inspired food. The menu spans crispy Korean fried chicken, premium beef burgers, loaded fries and handmade cookies, blending familiar comfort dishes with subtle Korean flavours. Rather than positioning itself as an authentic Korean dining experience, NakNak leans into accessibility, offering food designed to be enjoyed casually and shared.
O NCE again connecting neighbourhoods and commuters with daily necessities, Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has opened its latest outlet in Datum Jelatek Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Directly connected to the LRT Jelatek station on the Kelana Jaya Line, Lotus’s Malaysia 70th outlet was built to serve commuters, nearby residents and working individuals seeking quick, affordable grocery solutions as part of their daily routines. Lotus’s Malaysia COO Neil Gurusamy told theSun Lotus’s Datum Jelatek is the latest in a series of outlets located in areas with convenient access to public transport, including LRT or MRT stations, with the previous three being Lotus’s Puchong, Lotus’s Klang, Lotus’s Kajang and Lotus’s Mutiara Damansara. “Our primary consideration when selecting future store locations is the demographics and catchment of the surrounding communities. Many of these areas already benefit from established public transport connectivity, which naturally supports accessibility for commuters and nearby residents. As such, public transport access remains an important enabler as we continue to expand where our customers live, work and travel,” said Neil.
