Carragher calls Salah ‘a disgrace’

Slot has ‘no clue’ if Mo has played last Liverpool game ARNE SLOT admitted yesterday that he didn’t know whether Mohamed Salah will play again for Liverpool after the Egypt star was dropped for the Reds’ Champions League clash overnight with Inter Milan. signing a new contract in April. Asked whether Salah, who has scored 250 times for Liverpool since signing from Roma in 2017, had played his last game for the Reds, Slot said:“I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this moment in time,” added Slot. “He has every right to feel what he feels, but he doesn’t have the right to share it with the media.”

Aston Villa at the start of November. His outburst risked undermining Slot’s author ity at a time when he is trying to drag the team out of a slump which has seen them win just four of the last 15 matches. “I think all the players are going to have differ ent thoughts about the situation. And that’s okay,” said Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who said that he hoped Salah “plays again for the club”. “We, as his teammates, as his friends, we hope the best thing happens for him. But as Liverpool FC players, we want the best for the club as well. So we want a win-win situation for everyone.” – AFP

Salah was left in England for this morning’s fix ture at the San Siro following extraordinary criti cism of Liverpool boss Slot which came after he was left on the bench for the third consecutive game in a 3-3 draw against Leeds. The 33-year-old said he felt like he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club and no longer had a relationship with Slot, sparking reports that Salah could be on his way out in January despite

JAMIE CARRAGHER has responded to Mohamed Salah’s bombshell Liverpool inter view by calling his comments a “disgrace”, accusing the star forward of trying to get head coach Arne Slot sacked and only thinking about “me, me, me”. In a stunning rebuke of one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, who Carragher said would go down in history as a Liverpool legend, the former defender and Sky Sports pundit reminded Salah that he had won nothing before arriving at Anfield and that football is not about the “individual”. Carragher says he does not like criticising Salah because of his immense contribution to Liverpool’s recent success but last week claimed that the forward’s “legs have gone”, along with captain Virgil van Dijk’s. Salah, who is Liverpool’s third-highest scorer of all time with 250 goals, appeared to take that criticism personally and referenced England striker Harry Kane as he explained why he feels he is not shown more respect. And on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football , Carragher defended his criticism of Salah as he declared: “I will go after Salah when he tries to throw my club under the bus”. “I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game,” Carragher aded. “Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst. I don’t think it was. I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it’s choreographed with him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position. “He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on it. He played on the heartstrings of the Liverpool supporters. Liverpool were top of the League, he’d scored the winning goal at Southampton and that was the time to come out and put on the pressure on the Liverpool ownership. “He’s chose this weekend to do this, and he’s waited I think to choose a bad result for Liverpool. Supporters, the manager, everyone at the club feels like they’re in the gutter and he’s chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe get him sacked. “The one line that stands out for me is ‘thrown under the bus’. He’s thrown the club under the bus twice in the last 12 months. With the manager right now, he should be doing as much as he can to help the club get out of the worst run they’ve had since the 1950s and he hasn’t done that.” “You weren’t a big star before you came to Liverpool. You haven’t won anything with Egypt. All that’s saying is no matter how good a player you are, you need help from your team mates, your manager and fans. I think it’s really important that he remembers that. When he’s talking after the game, all it’s about is me, me, me.” – The Independent now 16th looking for a first win since Oct 26. Pulisic, 27, was named on the bench after suf fering from flu symptoms, with Milan boss Max Allegri sitting out a touchline ban. “I’ve been ill for the last few days, but I’m feel ing a bit better today,” Pulisic told DAZN . “The most important thing isn’t my goals, it’s that we won the match.” The hosts raced to an early lead as Vlasic con verted from the penalty spot and Zapata made it 2-0 after 17 minutes. Seven minutes later Rabiot halved the deficit with a sublime effort from more than 25m out. Pulisic then entered the fray and made an immediate impact netting with his first touch from short range. The 82-time international completed the comeback with 13 minutes left with a superb low half-volley.

Salah, who was not even used as a substitute at Elland Road, is set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations after this weekend’s home match against Brighton in the Premier League. His last Liverpool start was against PSV on Nov 26, while he is without a goal since netting against

Wolves boss Rob Edwards called it a “really difficult night” and one that saw fan anger turn to players, with Jorgen Strand Larsen letting his annoyance known when his substitution was cheered. “Look, I understand the frustration totally,” the manager said of the protest and the poten tial impact on players. “I think it’s been six months since we’ve last won, so I get it. “I’m not going to sit here and dress it up or anything like that at all, so I understand that side of it. “And then I’d love it if they supported the players but, again, I understand the frustration because of the situation that we’re in.

Troubled Reds host Barnsley in FA Cup TROUBLED Liverpool were handed an FA Cup third round tie fraught with the potential for embarrassment after being pitted against League One side Barnsley in yesterday’s draw. Arne Slot’s side have endured a dismal season featuring a calamitous defence of their Premier League title and star forward Mohamed Salah’s incendiary claims that his relationship with the Reds boss has broken down. Liverpool, who have already been knocked out of the League Cup, are languishing in ninth place in the Premier League, making the FA Cup a more likely route to domestic silverware this term. The Red Devils were on course to blow another opportunity against a Premier League struggler after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ opener just before the break. But United would not drop points like they did in last Thursday’s 1-1 home draw with West Ham as they instead steamed ahead in the sec ond half to win 4-1 as Bryan Mbeumo, Mount and Fernandes struck. “I think, once again, after we scored a goal we were a little bit sloppy on the ball and that gave a little bit of hope to the opponent,” boss Amorim said. “But we created a lot of chances in the first half also. We should have finished that half in the different way and then in the halftime they SHORTS
