JOHOR DARUL TA’ZIM (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz praised his players for sustaining their relentless pressure and discipline throughout their 10–0 demolition of Brunei DPMM FC in the Super League at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Saturday night. Munoz said the emphatic victory reflected the team’s understanding of his process and playing philosophy, emphasising character and effort from start to finish. “It’s a massive win. It’s also important that we play 90 minutes until the end,” he said at a post match press conference. “I can only say congratulations to the players again because they played very well. Now we need to start thinking about the next game in 48 hours. Munoz explained his decision to rotate and pair different strikers, including Bergson Da Silva,

teams, reflecting tactical evolution in his squad. Meanwhile, DPMM FC head coach James McAllister admitted the early red card to defender Muhd Syafiq Safiuddin Abd Shariff in the first half had a decisive impact on the match. “When you play against the best team in the league, you have to keep 11 men on the pitch. Going down to 10 men against JDT makes it almost impossible,” he said. “It’s a tough defeat to take, but we have to learn, adapt and move forward. Playing teams of JDT’s calibre shows us the standard we need to reach,” he said. Bergson led JDT with four goals, including a penalty, while Oscar Aribas, Manuel Hidalgo, Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi, Jairo, and Romel scored one each, with the win also complemented by an own goal from DPMM FC’s Pengiran Yura Indera Putera Pengiran Yunos. – Bernama

Jairo Da Silva, and Romel Morales, to maintain flexibility, chemistry and tactical balance upfront following a congested fixture schedule. “Normally, not everybody can play 65 games in a season. We need good connections. Bergson with Romel, Bergson with Jairo, Jairo with Romel. We’re lucky to have these kinds of strikers in our team,” he said. On Manuel Hidalgo’s performance, Munoz said the Argentine displayed versatility and quality, adapting effectively to both wing and wing-back roles. “I think Hidalgo is a very good player. He gives us flexibility to play inside and outside. Today he gave a very good performance, and that’s what we demand from him in every game,” he added. Munoz also highlighted the team’s adaptabil ity against different opponents, whether facing low-defensive blocks or open, high-pressing

A LEX MARQUEZ dominated the Malaysian MotoGP yesterday to clinch his third victory of the sea son, romping home more than two seconds ahead of fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta. Marquez, who confirmed his runner-up spot in the world championship standings at the weekend behind brother Marc, won for the first time this year outside Spain fol lowing success at the Spanish and Catalan Grand Prix races. Honda’s Joan Mir took home third place, with Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo completing the top five. Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia, who started on pole and won Saturday’s sprint, was forced to retire three laps from the end due to a suspected technical issue while running third, allowing 2020 world cham pion Mir to claim third place, his second podium finish of the year. Newly crowned world champion Marc Marquez was absent because of a season ending injury. In Moto3 action, Honda Team Asia rider Taiyo Furusato secured his maiden victory. Starting from second on the grid, the Japanese rider swiftly overtook Leopard Racing’s David Almansa and maintained his composure to romp home in style. Furusato, who made his Moto3 debut in 2022, crossed the finish line in 22 minutes 03.888 seconds, with Angel Piqueras of FRINSA-MT Helmets-MSI 2.259s behind, while Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez

completed the podium in third (+2.625s). Meanwhile, it was a debut to forget for Malaysia’s young talent Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, who was forced to retire due to a technical issue with his bike during lap five. Hakim Danish, who started 12th on the grid, was running in 11th place before the unfortunate incident occurred. He described his debut yesterday as an opportunity to gain knowledge and improve his riding skills despite his cam paign coming to an early end. The 18-year-old said although his machine stalled after five laps of the 10-lap race, the experience of battling with world class riders has given him motivation and confidence ahead of his first full Moto3 season next year. “I’m thrilled to have raced with the top championship riders because they are all very fast. It was definitely an amazing expe rience for me,” he said after the race. “I learned a lot, especially how they control the bike in such a high-level racing class. I will keep improving myself to be ready for next season,” he said. The race was delayed for almost two hours after a crash involving newly crowned world champion Jose Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler. The collision prompted race officials to wave the red flag. According to the race medical director, both Rueda and Dettwiler were conscious following the crash and were airlifted to hospital for further treatment. – Bernama
