Venue: Agenda Suria Communication Deepavali Carnival, Open Car Park B, Bukit Jalil Entry fee: Free Mythicon Studios, in collaboration with the Malaysian Performing Arts Society and Thrive Talent Tank, will host the digital soft launch of Kantha Puranam : An Immersive Mythicon on Oct 18 at Bukit Jalil. The event will unveil the world’s first digital trailer for the production, which merges ancient Tamil mythology with modern immersive technology to create a new genre of performance combining 3D projection, extended reality and live theatre. Directed by Anil Shatrian, the project reimagines the 13th-century Tamil scripture Kantha Puranam as a digital legacy, ahead of its full-scale premiere at Encore Melaka in 2026.
The National Stroke Association of Malaysia (Nasam) will host its annual Colour Walk on Oct 26 at Bukit Jalil Recreational Park in conjunction with World Stroke Day. The 2025 event promotes stroke awareness under the global call “Every Minute Counts”. Participants can join a 4km public walk or a 1km survivor walk, while simultaneous events will take place across Nasam centres in Kuantan, Sabah, Perak and Johor. Registration closes on Oct 22 at the official Nasam website. Stroke survivors can take part in the 1km walk for RM60, which covers the survivor and one caregiver.

SeaShorts Film Festival 2025 Date: Until Oct19 Time: Various screenings and sessions throughout the day Venue: GSC LaLaport BBCC, YWCA Kuala Lumpur Entry fee: RM20–RM200 The ninth edition of the SeaShorts Film Festival returns to KL, spotlighting 40 of Southeast Asia’s best short films selected from a record 703 submissions. This year’s festival explores identity, borders and belonging across 11 Asean countries. Highlights include competition screenings and special showcases such as Shorts+, Beyond Indian Shores and Heatseeker Japan, as well as masterclasses and forums with leading filmmakers and actors. Directed by Dain Said, the event continues to serve as a key platform for emerging voices in regional cinema. Festival passes for the event are now available on CloudJoi, with special discounted passes for students.
Lai Lai Art Gallery presents an international showcase featuring 400 artists from over 20 countries. The exhibition marks the 400th anniversary of the Wanli Shipwreck, a Portuguese vessel that once carried Chinese blue-and-white porcelain to Terengganu, and explores themes of cultural exchange through paintings, sculptures and installations. Curated by Alice Chang, Calvin Chua and Zaki Hadri, the event offers weekend art workshops, live demonstrations, storytelling sessions and a creative marketplace, creating a vibrant space for families and art lovers alike.
Borneo Jazz Festival 2025 Date: Oct 31–Nov 2 Time: From 6pm onwards Venue: Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, Miri, Sarawak Entry fee: RM100–RM600 The Borneo Jazz Festival returns, uniting local and international acts under the theme Jazzy Miri. Headliners include Aina Abdul, Aisha Retno, Amsyar Lee and Brunei’s Jaz Hayat, alongside international performers such as NonaRia, Tabitha King and Ruiwen Yang & Kwangyong Kim Trio. The festival, hosted by Kim Goodburn and Melisha Lin, will also feature workshops, artisan markets and sustainability showcases.
Zulkelfi Jais solo exhibition: $omeone, $omething, $omewhere Date: Until Oct 26 Time: Friday–Sunday, 12pm–7pm Venue: Galeri Sasha, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Galeri Sasha presents the debut solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Zulkefli Jais, also known as Kecik. Featuring mixed-media collages on plywood and an installation titled Watchtower (2025), the exhibition examines migration, displacement and ownership through the lens of surveillance and anonymity. Drawing from years of encounters with migrant workers, Zulkefli layers cut-out imagery from Newsweek magazines into dense compositions exploring power, conformity and identity. The gallery is open from Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 7pm, open by appointment on Wednesday and Thursday, and closed on Monday and Tuesday. Kuala Lumpur Entry fee: Free
Pavilion Style: Bag It Up! Date: Until Oct 31 Time: 10am–10pm Venue: Level 3, Couture Pavilion, Pavilion Pavilion Kuala Lumpur presents a curated exhibition celebrating the artistry, heritage and innovation behind luxury handbags from 11 global fashion houses. The showcase features highlights such as Hermes’s Inside-Out Birkin and Delvaux’s Le Brillant inspired by the 1958 Brussels World Expo and Bottega Veneta’s 50th Anniversary Intrecciato collection. Also on display are designs from Dior, Bvlgari, Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Prada, Loewe and Thom Browne, each reflecting the craftsmanship and cultural storytelling that define contemporary luxury. The MPO Presents Violinist Karen Gomyo Date: Oct 25 Time: 8pm Venue: Petronas Philharmonic Hall Entry fee: RM229–RM499 The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will perform excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet under conductor Olari Elts at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall on Oct 25. The evening begins with Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream overture, followed by his Violin Concerto in E Minor featuring internationally acclaimed violinist Karen Gomyo. Known for her expressive artistry and collaborations with major orchestras worldwide, Gomyo will conduct a violin masterclass on Oct 23. The concert promises a stirring blend of passion, melody and classical splendour.
