Fun twist to holiday decor with Swedish designer A new playful winter festive collection is set to reach the shores of Malaysia to bring a fresh twist for the holidays. Ikea has teamed up with renowed Swedish designer Gustaf Westman, to release a 12-piece rang of bold, colourful tableware and home objects, that will turn heads. Adding a shade of fun during a rather sombre season, the winter collection takes a fresh approach to entertaining guests at home. Stockholm-based designer Westman is known for his cheerful work that tackles curves in a playful light. “Our own design DNA has always embraced colour and playfulness. In Westman, we found the perfect partner to amplify that part of our identity,” Ikea’s creative leader (Sweden) Maria O’Brian said. The collection pieces are crafted from a single material, such as porcelain or stoneware in Westman’s signature sculptural forms and they come in four distinct colours each: red, green, bubblegum pink and baby blue. “I got the chance to put conventional holiday aesthetics on its head, adding playfulness and boldness. This is my interpretation of Christmas,” shared Westman. Through the Vinterfint and Strala collections, Malaysians can spruce up their homes with style and funkiness. Playful and rounded, Westman brings his signature style to these collections.
