Nokia partners EBB on data centre security

New commission to tighten rules on BNPL, non-bank credit KUALA LUMPUR: The Consumer Credit Commission (SKP) will regulate the businesses of non-bank creditors and credit service providers, including the buy-now, pay-later (BNPL) schemes, said Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying. She said the SKP has been established under the Consumer Credit Act 2025 (CCA), following the recent passing of the Consumer Credit Bill 2025 in Dewan Negara. “Under the CCA, credit providers are required to comply with responsible conduct requirements, including assessment of borrowers’debt affordability,”Lim said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Negara yesterday. She said this in response to a question from Senator Tiew Way Keng, who asked about the government’s move to regulate BNPL services as soon as possible, thereby preventing the public, especially youths, from falling into debt traps that could affect their future. Bina Puri signs MoU with Hanil Electric, eyes EPCC job for US$50m plant in Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has entered into a MoU with Hanil Electric Group Co Ltd, a manufacturer of household appliances from Korea, in a deal that could see Bina Puri’s appointment as the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for Hanil’s upcoming US$50 million (RM220 million) manufacturing plant in Sarawak. Founded in 1964, Hanil is a manufacturer of pumps, water circulation systems, ventilators, fans, and heaters, as well as other household appliances such as humidifiers, blenders, mixers, food processors, coffee makers, electric kettles, toasters, cooking grills, juice extractors, and vacuum cleaners. As part of its long-term strategic expansion into Southeast Asia, Hanil plans to develop a manufacturing plant in Sarawak with an estimated investment of approximately US$50 million. Under the terms of the MoU, Hanil will, during the planning and development phase of the manufacturing plant, keep Bina Puri informed on relevant material developments and provide Bina Puri priority to other third

parties to participate in the EPCC tender and negotiation process. Bina Puri will also be appointed as Hanil’s exclusive representative for the promotion, distribution and market development of Hanil’s products in Malaysia, while exploring expansion into other Southeast Asian markets. In addition, Bina Puri will actively consider incorporating Hanil’s technology and products in its existing and future projects, aiming to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with modern building standards.
