Mooncake whispers coming this Mid-Autumn Festival
S UNWAY Resort Hotel celebrates this Mid-Autumn Festival with a tribute to heritage, hope and the enduring power of tradition. Drawing inspiration from the festival’s storied past, the hotel unearthed a time when mooncakes carried more than just sweet fillings – they carried secret messages of unity, courage and silent rebellion. These delicate pastries became symbols of resistance, passed discreetly from home to home as whispers of hope beneath a moonlit sky. This Mid-Autumn, it invites guests to step into “Whispers of the Moon”, a celebration where sweet indulgences are woven with tales of the past, echoing with the voices of those who once dreamed under the same glowing moon. The hotel has unveiled a mooncake box that captures the spirit of the season and the reverence for tradition. This year’s design takes the form of a cylindrical case, elegantly wrapped in modern interpretations of classical Chinese landscape paintings. Rolling mountains and serene sceneries adorn the exterior, paying homage to the natural beauty that inspired the very origins of the festival. Upon unfastening the clasp, the box opens to reveal tiered compartments on both sides, each carefully cradling the mooncakes within, as if unveiling delicate secrets. The “Whispers of the Moon”’ mooncake box houses four pieces, with guests invited to curate their selection from eight exquisite flavours. Traditionalists may savour classics such as White Lotus Paste

KFC Malaysia is enlivening the 2025 National Day celebration with the unveiling of 14 unique murals at selected outlets nationwide, featuring the creativity of local artists to further ignite the spirit of independence this year. KFC Malaysia chief marketing officer Hanim Mazam said the murals, themed “KFC Cara Kita” (KFC Our Way), were created by 11 local artists who expressed their interpretation of togetherness and cherished memories shared among Malaysians. “For KFC, we have been in Malaysia for 52 years since 1973, so there are countless moments shared with Malaysians, from the smallest to the biggest, and throughout it all, we have been there with the people. For us, KFC has played a big role in strengthening bonds between friends and families. “… and that is why it is important for us to showcase these expressions in the form of art, and these murals are each artist’s expression of their own moments with KFC, reinterpreted so that all of us can appreciate them together,” she said when met after KFC Malaysia’s media briefing session. Also present at the session were mural artists including Katun, Nas Suha, Bingka KL and Haw. Hanim said the murals, painted at 14 selected outlets across every state, symbolise Malaysia’s 14 states as well as the 14 stripes and

Meanwhile, Katun, whose real name is Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahman, said his murals displayed at KFC Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur and KFC Wisma Gerakan, Negeri Sembilan were inspired by the presence of the brand in his surroundings while growing up. “When I was in school, I enjoyed skateboarding and to get to the skate park, I would pass by a KFC near my home where I would often see friends on dates or families dining together, and the idea of togetherness is what I portrayed in this mural,” he said. – Bernama

Hanim added that beyond being artistic expressions for the National Day celebration, the public also has the opportunity to own these artworks through limited edition Touch ’n Go Charms designed by Bingka KL, which are
