Maggi Kari-Lah Karnival Date: Until Aug 31 Venue: Raintree Plaza, The Exchange TRX This four-day festival brings together chefs, celebrities, creators and Malaysians from all walks of life for a celebration of taste, senses and stories. At the heart of the carnival is the Makan Makan Food Village, a showcase of Maggi Kari’s versatility – from nostalgic comfort to gourmet reinventions. Celebrity chefs have teamed up with restaurants to serve bold new takes on the classic bowl. Beyond these chef creations, fans can revisit mamak -style favourites or head to the Maggi Kita Bistro to craft their own personalised kari bowl. Asean Art and Textiles: A World of Seams and Seamlessness Date: Sept 7–14 Time: 10am–8pm Venue: Yap Ah Shak House, Kuala Lumpur The exhibition aims to raise awareness of Asean’s shared identity, promoting the vision of a region united by seamless interconnection of communities, shared ancient history and common cultural heritage. In celebration of the Asean 2025 theme of inclusivity and sustainability, the exhibition brings together works by 19 artists that embody these values through material, method and meaning. The Fortress of Dreams: A Sri Dasmesh Original Date: Aug 31 Time: 8pm–10pm Venue: Dewan Filharmonik Petronas Entry fee: RM130–RM220 A proud Malaysian ensemble, Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band is internationally recognised for excellence in traditional Scottish piping. The band returns to the spotlight, this time at home, to showcase a bold and imaginative performance that blends the deep roots of bagpipe tradition with local musical heritage. Impact Festival Date: Aug 31–Sept 20 Venue: Various cultural landmarks across Kuala Lumpur Entry fee: Most events are free or ticketed at accessible rates The Living History Project’s Impact Festival is a city-wide cultural programme dedicated to honouring heritage, amplifying underrepresented narratives and inspiring collective action through community-led storytelling and the arts. This inaugural festival invites Malaysians to rediscover shared roots and contribute to the shaping of a more inclusive, sustainable national memory.

Peranakan: A Musical Legacy is a concert that combines the talents of Somerset Music with the caring efforts of the National Autism Society of Malaysia and World Vision Malaysia. Most of the singers are special needs persons. This fund-raising concert will be a heartfelt celebration of Southeast Asia’s Peranakan heritage told through songs passed down across generations.

A Cosmic Symphony Date: Sept 13 Time: 8pm Venue: Petronas Philharmonic Hall Entry fee: RM229–RM499 The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a work entitled The Planets composed by Gustav Holst between 1914 to 1917 which received its premiere in 1920. This symphonic suite depicts the astrological associations conjured up by each of the known planets of his time, with an extraordinary orchestral virtuosity.
