Special Olympics Asia Pacific Regional Badminton Competition Date: Sept 17–20 Venue: Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara Malaysia will host the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Regional Badminton Competition for the first time. This historic tournament celebrates people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As the host country, Malaysia will welcome a total of 81 badminton players, including 64 athletes with IDD and 17 unified partners – people without disabilities who play sport alongside them.

3rd Malaysia Harmonica Festival Date: Aug 22–24

GSC Ultimate Family Adventure Date: Sept 19–21 (PlayFest), Sept 21 (Popcorn Run) Venue: IOI City Mall, Putrajaya The GSC Ultimate Family Adventure combines two signature events – GSC × AIA Vitality PlayFest and GSC Popcorn Run 2025. The PlayFest is a free-entry family carnival that is all about taking a break from screens and enjoying quality time together through fun, play time and imagination across four themed zones: Movie, Main, Makan and Market. The Popcorn Run, on the other hand, offers a 3km family-friendly route and a 5km challenge.

This national-level cultural event organised by HummingWay Harmonica aims to promote harmonica music, nurture young musical talents and inspire broader public engagement with the art through competitions, performances and interactive activities. This year, the festival has drawn approximately 500 harmonica players from across Malaysia and is expected to welcome over 2,000 students, parents and music enthusiasts nationwide.

Public Blood Donation Drive Date: Aug 23 Time: 10am–4pm Venue: Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya

A Brush with Passion 2.0 Date: Sept 4–17 Time: 11am–9pm Venue: Awegallery, Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya

A public blood donation drive will take place as part of a broader community outreach effort by Rockwills, held in conjunction with its 30th anniversary. The event, supported by the National Blood Centre, aims to address ongoing blood supply needs at local hospitals. Alongside the donation drive, attendees can benefit from free health screenings and informative talks led by healthcare professionals.

Raintown Film Festival Date: Sept 12–14 Venue: Paragon Cinemas, Taiping Mall Entry fee: Free Aimed at promoting Taiping through Malaysian cinema, the Raintown Film Festival returns for its second edition. Attendees can enjoy film screenings, film talks and guided tours, offering a fresh and immersive way to experience the charm of Raintown, from the screen to the streets. This year’s programme features four feature films shot in Taiping, each offering a distinct perspective on the town.

Following the success of the inaugural show in 2022, A Brush with Passion 2 returns with a fresh lineup of emerging artists mentored by Malaysian watercolourist Brian Tai. This year’s exhibition showcases the works of five passionate artists – Jess Chua, Lan Shing, Yuin Yi, Kimmie and Wee Xian (guest artist) – alongside their mentor Tai.

Skechers Friendship Walk 2025 Date: Sept 7 Time: 7am for 10km run, 7.30am for 5km walk Venue: Oval Lawn, Setia City Convention Centre, Setia Alam Entry fee: RM65 for the 5km fun walk and RM75 for the 10km competitive individual run Now in its eighth year, the Skechers Friendship Walk returns, offering two categories: a 10km competitive run for seasoned runners chasing personal goals, and a 5km leisure walk ideal for families, friends and casual walkers looking to enjoy quality time together.

Free Cancer Screening Date: Aug 24 Time: 9am–4pm Venue: SJKT Simpang Lima, Klang Hamidi’s Comrades in Charity in collaboration with the Cancer Society Malaysia and Apricot Clinic will be organising a free cancer screening. The screening is limited to only 200

individuals and no extras will be screened even at a cost. The entire cancer screening will cost RM525 for individuals above 35 years in the open market.
