Edotco in partnership to boost Sarawak’s digital connectivity

rises to RM39.6m PUCHONG: George Kent (Malaysia) Bhd posted a revenue of RM39.6 million, 16.1% higher for the third quarter ended Dec 31, 2024 (Q3’25) compared to the same period in the previous year. The group also recorded a PAT of RM6.6 million, marking a notable turnaround from the RM1.4 million loss in the corresponding quarter. For Q3’25, the Metering Division delivered a 6% year-on-year higher in revenue to RM35.5 million. The division profit stood at RM2.3 million, impacted by foreign exchange movements. Despite these challenges, George Kent said in a statement yesterday that the division remains a core pillar of the group’s business, supported by robust demand in Malaysia and increasing traction in international markets. “Vietnam, Asean’s fastest-growing economy, presents a promising growth opportunity as the government accelerates investments in smart cities, sustainable development, and modern infrastructure. The group’s new manufacturing plant in Vietnam is strategically positioned to support this transformation,” the company added. The Engineering Division recorded revenue of RM4.1 million for Q3’25, driven by the commencement of Package 8 of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant upgrading project. During the quarter, the division achieved several key milestones, including securing its first ever water supply infrastructure project in Sarawak, and another significant project win in Kwasa Damansara township. Building on this momentum, George Kent remains proactive in identifying and pursuing new tender opportunities to further expand its engineering portfolio. Executive chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock said: “We are pleased with our performance this quarter as we strengthen our core business and advance our technology-driven growth strategy. The launch of GK SuperTech, our wholly owned subsidiary, marks a key milestone in consolidating our AI and advanced technology initiatives. With 11 years of AMR expertise, we are now scaling up our innovation roadmap and expanding into new industries, backed by substantial financial investments and a dedicated team. “As we move into 2025, we remain focused on expansion, operational excellence, and market leadership. This initiative directly supports local ecosystems such as smart city development, digital education, e-commerce, and government digitalisation efforts, ensuring inclusive participation in the digital economy.
