to move forward and play this Clasico and make sure the club does as well as is still pos sible.” According to reports the two players rowed on Wednesday in training and their argument continued on Thursday during and after the session. Spanish media reported Valverde refused to shake Tchouameni’s hand and later fouled him in Thursday’s training session, with the pair scrapping afterwards in the dressing room when the injury occurred. they last won the Bundesliga in 2011-12, all behind Bayern. MILLWALL HELD BY HULL IN PLAYOFF SEMIFINAL Hull and Millwall are no closer to deciding which will go forward to the Championship final at Wembley after the first leg of their playoff semifinal ended 0-0 at the MKM Stadium. Millwall will have home advan tage for the second leg at The Den as they aim to reach the top tier for the first time since 1990. Alex Neil’s men finished 10 points ahead of The Tigers and will be frus trated at not taking a first leg lead after Ryan Leonard’s late goal was controver sially disallowed. Hull squeezed out Wrexham to make the top six on the final day of the regular league season last weekend. The home side nearly had a dream start when Mohamed Belloumi hit the post after a brilliant individual run inside two minutes. That was as close as Hull came as Millwall posed the greater threat of a tight encounter. The biggest talking point came five minutes from time when Leonard prodded home, but the referee blew up for a perceived foul by Tristan Crama in the build-up. Uruguay midfielder Valverde sought to downplay the severity of the alterca tion with the France midfielder. “The strain of the competition and frustration caused the situation to escalate,” Valverde wrote on social media, expressing regret at the media coverage of the incident. “I accidentally hit a table during the argument, causing a small cut on my forehead that required a routine visit to the hospital,” he said. “At no point did my teammate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either.” Tchouameni admitted that what had happened was far from acceptable. “Regardless of who is right and who is wrong we should always look for a peaceful resolution to any dispute,“ said the Frenchman. “There’s no point going on about who did what or who said what and I accept the fine,” he said. “Now we have

PRESSURE BUILDS ON FRANKFURT BOSS RIERA Borussia Dortmund came from a goal down to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 at home yesterday, putting further pressure on visiting coach Albert Riera. Frankfurt starlet Can Uzun scored after just two min utes but Dortmund hit back with two goals in five minutes through Serhou Guirassy and Nico Schlotterbeck to take the lead at half-time. Dortmund’s 18-year-old forward Samuele Inacio added a third, his first Bundesliga goal, midway through the sec ond-half to wrap up victory for the hosts, before Jonathan Burkardt grabbed a late consolation for the visitors. Former Liverpool and Spain winger Riera, who took over as coach in February, has won one of his past seven games and arrived in Dortmund reportedly fighting to keep his job. “Three months here, time is the key for everything in life. If I have the time, I will keep improving this team, because I know how to do it,“ Riera told Sky Germany. Yesterday’s win guaranteed Dortmund would finish second behind Bayern Munich this season. Dortmund have now finished second eight times in 14 seasons since Uruguay international Valverde was accompanied to the hospital facility near the club’s Valdebebas training complex by Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa, according to Spanish reports, which said the player needed stitches to treat a facial wound. SIDENETTING The club said he would be out for up to two weeks. Tchouameni took part in training on Friday and could feature at the Camp Nou. Madrid said both players “expressed their complete remorse for what hap pened and apologised to each other” while taking part in a club investiga tion. “They extended their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate,” read a club state ment.
